Large Diameter Waterline

Highlander Contracting’s large water team provides large scale dewatering activities for Mid Atlantic Water Municipalities. Our team partners with the municipal’s owner engineer and robotic inspection team to provide a complete turnkey inspection solution. We have been involved in numerous large scale dewatering projects with our team. Often times the project requires in excess of 3 million gallons to be dewatered and safely disposed.

Large Diameter Pipe Inspection & Dewatering Project:

Featured Projects

Dundalk Ave. 72” Water Transmission Main: After an emergency break and extreme flooding with extensive structural damage Highlander was part of the team to complete the inspection and repair of the 72” water main. The unique project required Highlander to dewater 1.5 million gallons of water and maintain several 72” leaking butterfly valves around the clock for almost 3 months. The continuous pumping and dewatering was required in order to complete the carbon fiber repairs.

Southeast 54” Water Transmission Main: The fast track project was completed in less than 7 days for full restoration of the service. The project required the isolation and dewatering of over 2.5 million gallons of water to replace three damaged 16’ sections of the 54” diameter PCCP pipe. The project was completed in the middle of the summer at peak season for water demand. The project required extensive coordination with multiple counties and water operating divisions to maintain safe fire prevention levels.
